Tenerife's animal and plant life make it one of the world's most important natural regions. It has 48 protected spaces, of which El Teide National Park, one of the most exotic and surprising places in Europe, is particularly worthy of note. Its moon-like volcanic landscapes, the colouring of its earth and the spectacular volcano bestow unique beauty and character on this place. A beautiful ecosystem which it is hoped will very soon be declared a World Heritage Site.
In addition, the Island has a Natural Park (La Corona Forestal), two Rural Parks (Anaga and Teno), four Integral Natural Reserves (Ijuana, Pirajal, Roques de Anaga and Pinoleris) and six Special Natural Reserves (Malpaís de La Rasca, Malpaís de Güímar, Montaña Roja, Barranco del Infierno, El Chinyero and Las Palomas).
The different altitudes of Tenerife's 300,000-year-old volcanic mountains have made it possible for several different ecosystems to coexist, resulting in an incredible variety of landscapes.
Surround yourself by a huge landscape. Escape from convention. Tenerife Select makes the best selection of leisure places and providers available to you so you can enjoy your free time in your favourite way. The Island offers countless landscapes for unforgettable moments. White-sanded beaches, volcanic coves, more than 600-metre-high cliffs and all sorts of land and water outdoor activities.
Make your escape: an infinite number of new experiences, such as sailing, diving, deep sea fishing, tennis and paddle tennis, water ski, surfing and windsurfing, parasailing, horse riding and trekking, await you.

Thanks to Tenerife's volcanic Nature, its coasts are endowed with very interesting sea floors characterised by original rocky formations, great natural diversity and very rich underwater fauna with over 500 species such as grouper, tuna, lamprey, skate and barracuda.
You can also find up to 19 different cetacean species out of the 79 in existence, and a stable colony of 250 short-finned pilot whales can be observed any time of the year. The Canary Islands' cold current enables these whales to coexist with other species typical of cold and temperate waters, such as the bottlenose dolphin, a frequent inhabitant of southern coasts.
